Greta Songe is a native of South Louisiana, who currently lives in Coralville, Iowa. She earned a BFA from Louisiana State University in Painting and Drawing in 2000 and an MFA from the University of Iowa in Painting with a minor in Printmaking in 2004. During graduate school, she spent time at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy studying printmaking and drawing. In addition, from 2005-2006 she served as an Artist-In-Residence at Arrowmont School of Art and Craft in Tennessee, where she initially began her explorations in surface design.

She has shown nationally and internationally as an individual artist with work consisting of illustration, paintings, drawings, and prints, as well as installation. She also dabbles in stop-motion animation. Her pattern designs are rooted in a love of nature, a sense of humor, a love of all things handmade, and a serious doodling habit.

Greta is currently an Instructor at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA
