Season after season, quilters have always loved Marcus pansies! With two new collections by Faye Burgos debuting in January 2010, we thought it would be fun to share a few interesting facts about the flower that started it all: - Pansies are one of the earliest flowering plants, blooming right alongside the spring bulbs.
- The name pansy is from the French word pensie, meaning thought or remembrance.
- Pansy patterns vary: flowers have single, clear color; a single color having black lines (penciling) radiating from its center; or color with a darker center patterning, called the "face." This last type is the most popular.
- Pansies are not only fragrant, but also edible.
