Roll-up Caddy
by Vandarra Robbins

This month, our Create-A-Room project does double duty, both at home and away. Sew up this easy scissor & rotary caddy, keeping them close at hand in your sewing area, and safely wrapped when you travel to quilt guild meetings or classes.

NOTE: All seam allowances are ½" unless otherwise noted.

R13 Pansies & Ivy
  • ½ yard T460-116D (green ground ivy print)
  • ½ yard T462-177D (purple floral texture print)
  • ¼ yard fusible batting 45” wide
  • 1-yard grosgrain for ties
  • 1/8” cording - for piping
Cutting Guide
  • 2 pieces, each 21” x 10½” (ivy print)
  • 1-5¼” x 10” for scissor pocket
  • 1-3¼ x 9” for small rotary pocket
  • 1-4¼” x 10”- for large rotary pocket
  • 1¾ yards of 1½” bias binding or piping (purple print)
  • 1-20” x 9½” fusible batting

Instructions
  1. Apply fusible fleece to one 21” fabric. Be sure that fleece does not extend beyond the seam allowances.
  2. Turn under 1” on one short edge of all pockets. Stitch, or fuse in place with fusible web tape.
  3. Turn under ½” on the remaining sides of all pockets. Press.
  4. View APlace first pocket (at the corner of the caddy) 1![” from the edge; position the remaining two pockets side by side, so that there is no more than ![” gap between pockets. (View A). Stitch around two long sides and one short side of each pocket.
  5. Insert cording into bias strips; baste in place (or use purchased piping). Attach bias/piping to the remaining piece of ivy print fabric.
  6. With right sides together stitch the two fabrics together, leaving a 6” opening for turning, centering the opening on the short side with the pockets.
  7. Turn right side out and press.
  8. Fold grosgrain in half and center in the opening.
  9. Stitch the opening, catching the grosgrain into the seam allowance.
