AeroPac Travel Wallet

We're pleased to introduce you to handbag designer Kat Southern, of StudioKat Designs, as she brings us a free project designed to address the needs of your favorite traveler. The AeroPac™ has two front slash pockets for passport, tickets, boarding passes and other ID. The lightweight strap allows you to wear your AeroPac around the neck or across the body, or simply tuck it into your purse. Whichever you choose, your documentation will be easily accessible to you yet safe from others, keeping your hands free to manage everything else! Kat chose coordinating prints from the CHARLESTON III collection for our sample, making it suitable for men and women alike!

  1. Press Tab in half, lengthwise, and stitch close to folded edge down both sides.
  1. Cut a 1" long piece of Velcro. Separate the Velcro, and center the fuzzy side near the folded edge of Tab. (either side) Stitch in place along all 4 edges.
  2. Repeat steps 1-3 with the second Tab.
AeroPac Body & Pockets
  1. Fuse interfacing to wrong side of AeroPac Contrast, according to manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Center raw edges of 1st Tab on right side of AeroPac Contrast short edge, Velcro facing UP. Baste in place ~1/8" from raw edges.
  1. Center 2nd Tab 4” below top raw edge of AeroPac Exterior, Velcro facing DOWN. Baste in place, ~ 1/8” from raw edges.

Press both Pockets in half lengthwise, wrong sides together.
  1. Center a looped side of Velcro (from step 3) ~1/4" below pressed edge of each Pocket. Stitch in place.
  1. Align raw edges of 1st Pocket, with Velcro facing DOWN, 4" below top edge of AeroPac Exterior, concealing 2nd Tab. Stitch in place 1/4" from Pocket's raw edges.
  2. Press Pocket UP, exposing Velcro. Take care not to get your iron on the Velcro, it'll melt.
  1. Align 2nd Pocket, on bottom raw edge of AeroPac Exterior. (Now the Velcro on 2nd Tab match up with the Velcro on 2nd Pocket.
  1. Now AeroPac Contrast & Exterior top edges, sandwiching 1st Tab in between. Stitch 1/4" from raw edges through all layers of fabric.
  1. Flip fabric over, (wrong sides together). Now the Velcro on 1st Tab matches up with Velcro on 1st Pocket. Baste ~1/8" from both side edges and edge, through all layers of fabric, anchoring everything in place.
ID & Ticket Holders
  1. Place both pieces of ID Pocket right sides together & stitch ¼" from the diagonal edge only. Do the same with Ticket Holder pieces. Trim each seam & flip so wrong sides are together now. Press flat.
  2. Cut 2 pieces of single-fold bias tape, 6 1/2" each. Place bias tape on diagonal ID Holder edge, allowing folded edges to hang equally on each side. Stitch in place. Clip excess bias tape from each side edge.
Repeat step 15 with Ticket Holder.
  1. Place Ticket Holder on AeroPac Contrast, lining up bottom & side edges. Baste in place. Now place ID Holder on Ticket Holder, in same way. Choose to either have bias taped edges converge, or be parallel to each other. Baste in place.
  1. Cut 48" of cording or lacing for your strap. Pin strap ends in place on both sides of AeroPac Contrast. There should be ~1" of lacing in contact with the AeroPac edge. Stitch in place.
    Put it all together now!
  2. Cut a 5" piece of double-fold bias tape, and two pieces that measure 10". Press one of the folded edges open & flat on each.
  1. Align pressed edge of small bias tape piece to bottom edge of ID Holder. Stitch 1/4" from raw edges through all layers of fabric.
  2. Flip bias tape up & over raw edges to pocketed side of AeroPac. Stitch in place 1/4" from folded over edge.
  1. Fold 1/2" over (wrong sides together) on a 10" piece of bias tape. Apply this folded over edge to top corner of AeroPac Contrast, covering the end of strap. Continue applying bias tape to edge, until bottom corner is reached. Finish end off by folding over this bias tape end, so it is even with AeroPac's bottom edge. Stitch in place 1/4" from raw edges through all layers of fabric. Repeat procedure on other side of AeroPac.
  2. Flip bias tape up & over both AeroPac side edges to pocketed side. Stitch in place 1/4" from folded over edges.
