Backing: 5 yd stripe M786-112D Cut in half for (2) 90" pieces, sew together on selvedge edge. Trim on long one side to make a backing piece 75" x 90".

Sewing:
  1. Snowball blocks: Position a fabric D square in each corner of an 8" fabric B square. Sew in a diagonal line from corner to corner of the fabric D squares. Trim away excess fabric 1/4" from stitching line, fold out remaining triangles and press seams. Make 4.
  2. Snowball blocks (bright colors): Position a fabric E 3" square in each corner of an 8" square. Sew, trim and press in the same manner as Step 1. Make 61 blocks from bright color fabrics.

Quilt Assembly:
  1. Rows: The quilt is sewn together in 9 rows of 7 blocks each. Refer to the quilt photo to place your blocks in color sequence. When the rows are complete sew them together from top to bottom.
  2. Borders: There are three rounds of borders in the quilt. Sew the vertical borders in each round first, then sew the horizontal borders. The sequence is as follows: fabric D vertical and horizontal borders, fabric B vertical and horizontal borders and then fabric C vertical and horizontal borders.
Finishing:
  1. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing. Quilt the layers together. Hint: Quilt flowers in the dot blocks and spirals in the check blocks. Outline quilt the flowers in the flower blocks. Cross hatch the remainder of the blocks
  2. Fold the fabric E binding in half lengthwise and sew raw edges of binding to raw edges of quilt top. Turn folded edge to back and sew in place.
