Tiny Treasures Baby Quilt

Everyone loves a beautiful baby quilt, and Mary Mulari’s vintage-style TINY TREASURES coordinates make it simple as well as beautiful. Mix and match fabrics as shown, or experiment with your own favorite print placement. Then, use remnants from your project to embellish coordinating baby T's, onesies, blankets and more!

You’ll Need:

(1)1/2 yd. Tiny Treasures Panel
1/8 yd. Pink and Blue Floral
1/8 yd. Blue Pin Dot
1/4 yd. Pink Plaid
3/4 yd. Yellow with Toys design (outer border)
3/8 yd. Blue Stripe for binding
1 yard backing (White with Toys, or Tiny Treasures print of your choice)
Crib size quilt batting, 36” x 45”


Cutting Guide:

(1) 17-3/4” x 17-1/2” center panel using 4 larger designs as corners. Use blue pin dot as your 1/4” seam allowance beyond the edges of the designs.
(8) 2-3/4” square small designs from Tiny Treasures Panel - 4 with blue background, 4 with yellow background. Use blue pin dot as 1/4” seam allowance beyond the edges of the designs
(4) 5-3/4” square large designs from Tiny Treasures Panel
(2) 2-1/2” x 17-1/2” floral
(6) 2-3/4” x 3-1/4” pin dot
(2) 2-3/4” x 17-1/2” plaid
(2) 2-3/4” x 30-1/2” plaid
(2) 5-3/4” x 22” toys design (outer border)
(2) 5-3/4” x 30-1/2” toys design (outer border)
(4) 2.5” x 45” stripe (for binding)


Assembly:
Use 1/4” seam allowances

  1. Sew floral rectangle to top and bottom of center panel. Press seam allowances towards floral.
  2. Piece together 4 small designs with the pin dot rectangle into a 17-1/2” strip. Alternate the yellow and blue background designs with the pin dot. Make 2, press seams open.
  3. Sew the 17-1/2” strips from step 2 to the top and bottom of the floral borders. Press towards floral.
  4. Sew 17-1/2” plaid strips to top and bottom, press towards plaid.
  5. Sew 30-1/2” plaid strips to sides, press towards plaid.
  6. Sew 22” toys design (outer border) strips to top and bottom, press towards outer border.
  7. Sew (1) 5-3/4” large design square to both ends of 30-1/2” outer border. Make 2. Press towards border.
  8. Sew strips from step 7 to sides of quilt. Press towards outer border.
  9. Layer quilt top with backing and batting. Pin together and machine or hand quilt as desired.
  10. Fold and press each binding strip in half, meeting long raw edges and with wrong sides together. On the right side of the quilt, pin the long cut edges of the binding to each side edge. Sew to the quilt. Wrap the binding folded edges to the back side of the quilt and pin in place over the stitching line. Pin the raw edges of the binding strips to the top and bottom edges of the right side of the quilt, extending the binding 1/2” beyond the edges. Sew the bindings to the quilt, fold under the 1/2” extensions and wrap and pin the folded edge of the bindings to the back side of the quilt. Hand stitch the folded binding edges to the back of the quilt.
