Tracy Souza's debut collection for Marcus, Sew
Merry & Bright, reflects Tracy's love of cheerful designs embellished with
hand embroidery, and
her favorite time of year: "I love Christmas... the sparkle, candy canes, and polka
dots," she says.
It offers quilters a
pre-printed panel of motifs on a cream background, perfectly sized for pillows,
mini quilts, framed art, table runners and more. With such smaller projects in
mind, Tracy then designed the coordinates as 8" wide stripes (five different
prints across the width of the fabric, in three color-ways) for maximum
versatility and the opportunity for fun creative effects!
"I've always loved a softer
palette of colors. The 8-inch strips are a great way to collect all the fabrics
and are perfect to use for half square triangles and prairie
points." "I am a child of grace, mama to Not-So Little Miss and Mister, a
"retired" high school teacher, a collector of many things, a fabric hoarder,
and blessed way beyond measure to be doing something that I absolutely love to
do.
For as long as I can remember I have been a doodler with paper and
pencil on hand wherever I go. I learned basic embroidery stitches in a 6th
grade elective course and have been stitching them to my hearts content for
over 35 years now. Plumcute Designs is the natural merging of these two parts
of me.
Way back in 1999 I got this wild idea to establish a pattern
company. I thought I was going to design quilts. I never imagined that I would
spend the next two decades drawing, stitching, and developing patterns for
embroiderers world wide. I have been in quilt and craft publications around the
world since 2007 and in 2019 I had the honor and privilege of adding Martingale
author to the list of things to know about me.
It has been an
extraordinary adventure and I am thankful to all those that have inspired and
helped make this possible. I look forward to continued creativity and the
