GENTRY'S MILL

The rich history of the mills of the young colonies in the New World provides the unique inspiration for Lynn Wilder's gorgeous new collection and BOM, GENTRY'S MILL. Mills were an integral part of development in the region.  Some of the first roads were built to serve the mill site, which would also form the beginnings of a small town, becoming the hub of the community.

It was said that meal fresh from the slow-turning stones is as warm as from the underside of a settin' hen.   The cornmeal was not scorched by fast-moving machinery.

These picturesque mills helped a young nation prepare for the age of machinery and played an important role in the development of our country.

The palette of slate blues and berry mixed with neutrals is reminiscent of the era, yet fits easily into todays trans-seasonal decorating trends.

Patchwork quilt designs have been inspired by favorite millstone designs. Lynn explains that she designed the larger blocks in the quilt to resemble the gears in a mill, while some of the smaller blocks look like an old millstone quilt block pattern.
