Dawn’s design inspiration began at a flea market in France, “...where I discovered a small bundle of letters written by soldiers during the war. I knew I had to bring their stories to life through fabric. Digging into my collection of antique French textiles, I found a paisley print with heart-shaped motifs that seemed destined for this project. From there, the idea of Love Letters was born.”
The Love Letters BOM program is designed to be approachable for beginners yet engaging for seasoned quilters. The quilt features blocks in a variety of sizes for interest, ranging from 6", 9" and 12", with a 16” center block. The corners and outer blocks are heart-shaped, echoing the central theme of love and connection.
The scalloped border includes instruction for a no-bias edge method that even a beginner can complete.
The 9-month program unfolds like a correspondence across time: each monthly
pattern is paired with a short narrative
written by Dawn, creating an on-going fictional
dialogue between a French soldier and his fiancé.
Two punch needle projects and a Valdani thread set and provide add-on sales. The Love Letters thread set includes 12 balls of expertly coordinated hand dyed Valdani pearl cotton. This thread is great for big stitch quilting the completed quilt top and also for the punch needle projects which are themed around the love letters. Quilt Size Approx. 83" x 83"
