Like many American families, Kellie Beckwith's ancestors immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. My family tree has members who served in the military spanning numerous generations, including my father, so I grew up in a military family. This instilled in me a deep sense of patriotism and I wanted to create a collection that really spoke to the pride I have in both my heritage and country.

Using the LIBERTY ISLAND collection, Kellie designed her new BOM quilt as a sampler, with blocks representing the members of her family that made new lives for themselves in the United States of America, as well as those who served their country with honor.

Blocks of varying shapes and sizes connect tocreate the beautiful and unique design. I feel this represents the United States. Immigrants have come from all over the world, blending to create the melting pot our nation has become. This very theme is seen in my own family, like so many, with my ancestors coming from all over Europe, as far back as the Mayflower, and blending through the generations to make me who I am. better way to reflect that unity than with the Statue of Liberty?  The Statue of Liberty toile fabric was created from two different elements Kellie uncovered in the Smithsonian Archive. Blending the two together created the resulting print and the supporting fabrics were inspired by prints found in historical quilts. Two 108 wide quilt back options round out the collection.
