Marcus is pleased to present its first Chunk-of-the-Month program, a fresh take on the BOM concept by Chris Schulte of Green Light Quilts.
“My version of a block of the month, only participants work on a "chunk" of the quilt each month. Each monthly section isn’t necessarily a same-size block, giving the concept its name,” she explains.
The “chunks” are made with basic piecing, with a touch of appliqué, including touches of Chris’ signature raw edge blooms. Each chunk is different and students feel a sense of accom-plishment upon completion. The overall design is original and not repetitive, so that each “chunk” provides a different creative experience for the quilter.
The mix of delicate florals, paisley, buds and tone-on-tones combine with a cross-stitch panel and eight tonal Strip-It™ variations for endless creative options. Together the 8” wide Strip-Its offer 40 gorgeous prints to easily accommodate the scrappy appeal of Chris’ designs. And she chooses tones of sage, coral, dusty blue, butter and neutrals for projects with year-round appeal.
The collection, KATHLEEN’S STORY, was inspired by her mother, Kathleen.
“She died young and was an avid seamstress and needle work enthusiast. To date, I do not have any designs or quilts dedicated to her, yet she is the underlying ‘pulse’ of my work.”
